Best RIM Strategy in Business

This award seeks to recognize an organisation that has developed the best RIM (Records and Information Management) strategy in support of the organisation mission, vision and strategy. It identifies a RIM strategy that provides close alignment between RIM function and the rest of organisation. Areas of focus include amongst others: RIM strategy; policy framework; assimilation of ICTs in RIM; alignment of RIM to organisational structure; placement of RIM within organisation structure; skills and expertise in RIM. The award shall be given to the organisation.


Records Manager of the Year

This award seeks to recognize an individual RIM professional who has made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of practice, policy and theory of the records and archives management profession. This could be from any of the sectors – academia, industry, professional association – including professionals who have championed transformation in RIM in their organisations at individual level. The individual must demonstrate personal efforts in advancing the identified course.

Participation and Timelines

Organisations and individuals wishing to participate in the awards shall submit an article that articulates their achievements in line with the award they are participating. The article should not exceed 3000 words.


The application window shall open 1 April and close 30 August of every year. Evaluation of bids shall be conducted during the month of September and October. A list of applicants shall be circulated to members prior to evaluations.


Presentation of awards

The awards shall be presented during the annual gala dinner in November of every year.


Mode of Identification

A panel of assessors shall independently examine each of the applications to identify the most deserving application.



Nominees for the awards must be bonafide members of KARMA, institutional or individual.
