The Kenya Association of Records Managers and Archivists (KARMA) is the professional body for records manages and archivists in Kenya. Every year, KARMA hosts an annual conference which affords the professionals platform to reflect on diverse pertinent topics for the profession, the practice and the society.

The next conference, the 7th annual conference, will be held on 6-10 November 2023, in the Coastal city of Mombasa. This will be on the theme Supporting Devolution through Effective Records Management. In 2010, Kenya promulgated a new constitution that established a devolved system of governance that provided for statutory delegation of financial and administrative autonomy from the national government to 47 county governments.

In the spirit of driving effective records and archives management for sustainable development, and championing applied records and archives management, the professionals will be engaging on how to institutionalize adequate records and information management systems and capabilities to support devolution.

Now the largest annual gathering of records and archives management professionals in Africa, KARMA seeks to position this annual conference as a must-go-to records and information management event in Africa, for professionals from across Africa and the world. We believe this will also afford the professionals from across Africa and the world unparalleled opportunity to connect and collaborate for the future of the profession.

We extend a warm welcome to professional colleagues around the world to our upcoming conference. We also invite you to consider KARMA’s annual conference in your plan of professional activities and a wonderful opportunity to connect, engage and partner with practitioners in Kenya and Africa.

Kindly visit the Conference page for further details on the conference theme and sub-themes, call for papers, conference venue, registration for attendance and opportunities for partnership. You may also visit www.karma.co.ke for more information about KARMA.
